My current work is focused on completing my first novel, titled “Autumn’s Winds” –
A character-driven fantasy tale surrounded by magic, intrigue, and a dying world that is stuck in a perpetual Autumn. The book centers around a man named Ashton. He is a hero of the people and leader of an elite team of agents known as the Black Inquest.
Six years before the story begins, Ashton prevented certain doom upon the world when he directly foiled the plot of an enigmatic cult, a cult whose aim was to kill Autumn. Destroying Autumn would have plunged the world into eternal Winter, or worse.
Despite his lofty accolades, Ashton carries no memory of his heroic endeavor. For in the very moment he slew the nefarious cult leader, an explosion of undetermined origin sent him toppling from a great height, and the resulting injury to his head erased all memory from before that fateful day.
Many challenges face our hero; from political turmoil and rising civil unrest, to facing off against a mysterious figure who wields powerful magic in unfamiliar ways, to dealing with the vile group known as Death Dealers, a group whose motives are yet unknown. Everything in Ashton’s world feels like chaos as he attempts to keep the peace.
And lying beneath it all is Ashton’s growing, unshakable dread that Autumn is slowly dying, despite a current lack of evidence to support his fears. Ashton must not only overcome the external forces working against him, but will struggle to find clues to his past as his lacking sense of identity leaves him feeling hollow and surrounded with self-doubt.
Full of surprising twists and unexpected revelations, Autumn’s Winds is the first installment of a planned trilogy exploring the historically and culturally rich world of Tarsys. A world whose leaders performed an ancient, secretive ritual to freeze the Seasons in an attempt to forestall the end of the world. A world where the people suffer under the harsh conditions of eternal Autumn and grow increasingly frightened and desperate.
Can Ashton combat the bevy of threats rising against the rulers of Tarsys? Can he discover clues from his past and unlock the answers that could save the world? And will the sinister, speaking Shadow in his mind prove to be his demise, or the key to his past?
This, and more, will exhilirate readers of “Autumn’s Winds.”
